In the Spotlight: Connor Reardon

As a Portfolio Analyst, Connor works closely with our Chief Investment Officer and other Sandy Cove colleagues to assist in the management and investment of our clients’ assets. Connor is responsible for many back-office client functions including portfolio manager research, investment fund ranking, trading and reconciliation, and assisting the CIO with asset allocation, portfolio construction, and portfolio risk management.  In addition, Connor comes to Sandy Cove with great marketing experience, so the firm is eager to use his social media and marketing talents to further spread the word about Sandy Cove’s services.

Prior to joining Sandy Cove, Connor gained experience working in corporate finance and asset management.  Connor worked at The Black Dog as a financial analyst helping the CEO carry-out a management-led buyout.   At Banyan Tree Global, Connor worked as an investment analyst performing due diligence on new venture fund candidate firms.

Connor is currently working towards his Master of Science in Finance from Carroll Graduate School of Management taking courses at night.  Connor is a graduate of Wake Forest University where we majored in finance with a minor in mathematics.  Connor lives with his family in Falmouth where he enjoys boating and travelling.   To get some further insight into our newest SCA colleague, we played a quick round of question & answer with Connor, which we think you’ll enjoy reading.

Quick Q&A round for Connor Reardon:

Q:   Sports fan of?

A:  All Boston sports, particularly the Bruins and Patriots. Outside of that, I enjoy watching college lacrosse, professional rugby, and I am beginning to follow Formula 1.

Q:  What is an out-of-office skill that you would like to learn in the next year or so?

A:  For a long time, I have wanted to learn to kitesurf, and I think this will be the year that I finally take lessons. I would also like to do more wake boarding—I have only been once, and I am proud to say that I already know a few tricks.

Q:  How about an in-office skill?

A:  I have spent lots of time in the classroom learning about investing, but I am eager to see how it works in real-world examples. Working at Sandy Cove will provide me with that live experience and learning from the professionals here at the firm is great way to see how I can put the book knowledge into practice.

Q:  What is your favorite time of day?

A:  Dusk. I will often go for a drive or at least step outside to enjoy the sunset.

Q:  Finish this sentence. On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me ...

A:  Out and about, hopefully on a boat! I am not very good at lazy Sundays, so you will not find me snoozing the day away!

Q:  What is your favorite book?

A:  Like I tell everyone, if you have not read Beneath a Scarlett Sky, get yourself a copy. It is an incredible true story from WWII that is difficult to put down once you have started.  Come to think of it, I should have added that to our 2021 Summer Reading List!

Q:  What are your top three places you would like to travel to in the next 5 years?

A:  Italy (again) for the Mediterranean Sea and the northern lakes, Ireland to see all the west coast towns, and Australia to road-trip the most famous regions.

Q:  How have you found your first month at Sandy Cove Advisors?

A:  Hard to believe it’s only been a month because I have learned so much already from everyone here.  After getting the procedures and systems figured out, I have moved on to helping the team with client reports and all the quarter-end investment work we do, like updating our Sandy Cove ranking of investments strategies.

The whole group has been great. They are very proactive in providing me with the guidance and training I need.  Additionally, I’ve been able to use my “modern” Excel skills and my computer knowledge to offer the group some tips and efficiency hacks.

Please join Sandy Cove Advisors in welcoming Connor to our team.  We are delighted to have him working with us!
